Dr. Abhay N Datarkar is a distinguished figure in the field of Dentistry in India, with a rich academic, clinical and administrative background. He obtained his BDS and MDS degrees from Government Dental College and Hospital Nagpur, India, specializing in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. In 2003, he achieved the notable distinction of being one of the first individuals to clear DNB in Central India.
Continuing his pursuit of excellence, Dr. Datarkar obtained FDSRCPS from the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons Glasgow, UK, in 2017. He currently serves as the International Dental Adviser to the RCPS College. Furthermore, he completed his Fellowship in Craniofacial Surgery at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Columbus, Ohio State University.
Throughout his career, Dr. Datarkar has been recognized for his outstanding achievements. He was awarded the Gold Medal by Nagpur University during his postgraduation and was the recipient of the Best Student Award in 1998 and Best Teacher Award by MUHS in 2017. In 2013, he was honored as the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon of the year and received the Young Achievers Award from the Academy of Medical Sciences, Nagpur.
In addition to his accolades, Dr. Datarkar has made significant contributions to the field through his research, publications, and educational endeavors. He has delivered over 300 keynote and guest lectures at international and national forums, covering various topics in Cranio-maxillofacial surgery. Dr. Datarkar has authored a book on Exodontia Practice and contributed chapters to publications by Springer. He boasts an impressive publication record, with 48 international and 49 national publications in esteemed journals of Maxillofacial, Plastic, Cleft, and Implantology.
Dr. Datarkar's expertise extends beyond academia; he has been actively involved in pioneering research projects, securing extramural grants totaling Rs 4,11,05,508 for initiatives such as the Covid-19 Mucormycosis project and Oral Precancer cancer Project. His contributions to research have been recognized with prestigious awards, including a Travelling Fellowship from the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.
As an educator and mentor, Dr. Datarkar has played a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of dental professionals. He has trained numerous young surgeons and general dental practitioners. Currently serving as the Maharashtra Public Services selected Dean and Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Govt. Dental College & Hospital Nagpur, he has spearheaded initiatives to enhance the quality of dental education, earning NAAC A+ grade and impressive rankings from NIRF Ministry of Education Government of India.
Dr. Datarkar's administrative prowess is evident through his roles on various academic boards and committees, including the Board of Studies Clinical board Faculty of Dentistry and the Research Steering Committee. He has also been nominated as an Academic Council Member by the Governor of Maharashtra and elected on the Senate from Nagpur Division MUHS Nashik.

Christopher Michael Runyan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. There he is the Residency Program Director and Departmental Vice Chief of Education. His training pathway includes completing the Medical Scientist Training Program with a PhD in Molecular and Developmental Biology, and an Integrated Plastic Surgery Residency both at the University of Cincinnati. He then completed a Craniofacial Fellowship at New York University before joining faculty at Wake Forest. His clinical expertise includes cleft, craniofacial and orthognathic surgery, complex facial trauma reconstruction and facial aesthetic surgery. His academic interests include craniometric analysis using 3D-photogrammetry, craniofacial outcomes, and building craniomaxillofacial surgical capacity internationally through global surgical volunteer work.
